Russellville Independent Schools Community Education Director Penni Nugent is excited to announce that a new Student Intern for 2019-20 will be working with her on the District’s Public Relations. RHS Senior Laura Mullen began her Internship at the Board of Education on Aug. 12, and is ecstatic to be involved in her community.

While Mullen has a love for literacy, her true passion is music. She began taking piano lessons in the first grade and has since then excelled not only in piano but in voice and trumpet. She is currently in her church youth band where she plays the piano and sings. She has also been involved with the Russellville Marching Panther Band for five years where she is a co-leader for the trumpet section. Her plans after high school are to attend Murray State University where she will major in music education to become a voice teacher, and to sing jazz professionally.

She is beyond grateful for the people who have worked to give her this opportunity and already feels at home with the staff at the Central Office. Laura looks forward to the knowledge and experience she’ll gain through this internship and is excited for his road ahead with Penni Nugent at Russellville Independent Schools!
