Kerry Simmons' fourth grade students at Lewisburg Elementary are working on a project that includes "Hometown Heroes."  Students are discovering how to answer the question: How can we share and honor the stories of local heroes?

Each student has chosen a local hero to showcase in an article that they are writing. Students first researched what a real hero is and created posters to display. 

Later, a local journalist, Aaron Mudd from The Daily News in Bowling Green came and discussed with students how to conduct an interview proficiently. Students took notes, practiced interviewing each other, and asked Mr. Mudd questions. 

Students hope to publish their articles in a local newspaper and produce a book to answer their guiding question of sharing and honoring their heroes.
