Twelve members of the Logan County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the organization’s National Fall Leadership Conference. At the event, students were provided the opportunity to meet leaders in industry and attend workshops inclusive of many aspects of business and leadership, including the following: Winning the Game of College Admissions, Good Citizenship and You, Communication as a Team, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Digital Skills for Careers and Higher Ed, and Real Estate Empire from Scratch.

Another workshop session concerned the March of Dimes and ways local FBLA chapters could engage with the MOD that would empower members and grow engagement through their national partnership.

When not involved in sessions, club members took in many of the sites our nation’s capital has to offer. Students toured the United States Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Holocaust Museum, Federal Bureau of Engraving & Printing, Arlington National Cemetery, Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian Museums of American History, Natural History, and Air & Space. As an added bonus, students were able to attend a parade recognizing the World Series Champion Washington Nationals.

Students making the trek to the convention include the following: Eva Bouldin, Addison Corder, Evan Dana, Mason Freeman, Morgan Gafford, Abigayle Hinton, Maddix Mowles, Brianna Searing, Anna Silvey, Zoe Steenbergen, Morgan Stratton, and Ella Violette. Amy Goodman Hinton and Angela Silvey served as parent chaperons.
