The first night of the Little Cougar Academy 2020 was held on Feb. 18 at the Career and Technology Center. This event was quite a success despite the cold and rainy conditions
Future Logan County Cougars rotated in groups through centers designed to engage them in physical activity and challenge their fine and gross motor skills. These centers were led by preschool and kindergarten teachers and assistants from the schools across Logan county.
The parents in attendance learned about healthy living habits from Selina Blick, Logan County Health Department, and Jaime Fair, Logan County Food Service Director.
The Little Cougar Academy program is designed to help prepare students for kindergarten and educate parents about what to expect in the next school year.
Parents and future students left with backpacks loaded down with school supplies, cookbooks, and other wonderful giveaways provided by the school and community sponsors. Each night of attendance everyone is entered for prize drawings, with grand prizes the final night to include Microsoft Chromebooks.
The next night for Little Cougar Academy is March 24 beginning at 5 p.m. The focus will be on reading and math with activities to engage future kindergartners and their parents.
The final night for Little Cougar Academy will be April 28. All sessions are being held this year at the Logan County Career and Technology Center.
These events are open to all students who will be in Kindergarten in a Logan County School for the 2020-2021 school year and their families.
