Dr. Seuss Week was observed during the first week of March at Stevenson Elementary! Each day had a dress-up day for the students to participate, and the students always enjoy participating.
The dress-up days were as follows: Monday: Fox in Socks- Wear Wacky Socks; Tuesday: Crazy Hair Tuesday - Make your hair like Thing 1 and Thing 2; Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday- Crazy hair, clothes, etc; Thursday: Oh the Places You’ll go! - Wear your favorite college, sports team, or dream career; Friday: Favorite Book Character! Community Parade for Character Dress-Up Day.
The Annual Literacy Night was held Thursday, March 5, from 5-8. Each grade level was responsible for creating a 20-minute activity based on a Dr. Seuss book for the students and their families to enjoy. The program started with a read-aloud from teachers Nicole Pedigo, Katie Maiden, Lillie Hoskinson, Katie Kissellbaugh, Cameron Kisselbaugh, Bryan Rush, Cynthia Duncan, and Rebecca Hart. Then Music Instructor Elaine Blythe, provided a few song selections.
The evening meal consisted of soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and dessert. There were also prizes given throughout the evening.
SES Principal Robin Cornelius said,” I want to give a shout out to the Literacy Team for a job well done! We had a great turnout; close to 300 came out for this great event. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to set up fun activities for our friends and families.It’s safe to say that thanks to all SES staff and faculty, it was another successful Dr. Seuss celebration week.”
