Mt. Pleasant planning indoor & outdoor services

The leaders of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lewisburg are finalizing plans to “reopen” the church building after a long absence due to the Covid-19 limitations. The plan is to hold two morning services that will allow a high level of safety through physical distancing, beginning this Sunday, June 7.

Leaders will carefully gather the congregation in an outdoor worship service at 9 a.m. in the grassy area behind the sanctuary building near the gym. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, dress casually, continue to practice physical distancing, wear a mask if preferred, and worship the Lord as the “gathered church” once again.

An FM transmitter will be broadcasting the service to the radio to allow those more comfortable staying in their vehicle to join in the worship experience.

The 11 a.m. service will be inside the building. Seating has been marked for the recommended physical distancing. For the safety and peace of mind of all those attending, members and guests are asked to please wear a mask, sit in one of the marked areas, refrain from physical contact with persons not in your family, and enjoy gathering with other believers to worship the Lord together again!

The FM transmitter will also broadcast this service, in case anyone feels more comfortable staying in their vehicle instead of coming inside the building.

In addition to the reopening the building on Sunday, a special "Drive-in Movie" night is planned for the preceding Friday evening, June 5.

The movie Overcomer will be shown at 8 p.m. on a huge screen on the side of the gymnasium, allowing families to gather in the grassy area to enjoy a great movie, experience some "distanced" fellowship, and make more unique memories.

The entire Lewisburg community is invited to bring blankets or lawn chairs, snacks and soft drinks for their family, and enjoy the evening together.

The FM transmitter will again be used to allow people to stay in their vehicles if they'd prefer the real live "drive-in" experience.
