Logan Adult Ed honors GED graduates

Logan County Adult Education celebrated the accomplishments of the 2012-2013 GED Graduates on Sunday, June 30 at Logan County High School. Of the 72 students who earned their GED, 41 participated in the ceremony.

The guest speaker, Kentucky State Representative Martha Jane King, congratulated the students on their successes and spoke of how determination and the desire to succeed can greatly improve lives. She also urged the graduates to thank family and friends for supporting them as they reached their goal to earn a GED.

Awards were presented to: Valedictorian Jeremy Schlabach and Salutatorian David Yoder.

The following students achieved perfect scores in GED Testing Areas:

Melinda Dulworth-Co-Student Volunteer of the Year

Gabrielle Niles-Co-Student Volunteer of the Year

Angela Pritchett-Adult Basic Education Co-Student of the Year

Rev. Eddie Bigbee-Adult Basic Education Co-Student of the Year

Juana Duron-English Language Learner Student of the Year

Also recognized for Outstanding Service for 2012-2013:

Richard Holloman-Volunteer of the Year

Margaret Van Zee-Adult Education Advocate

Doris Vick-Concerned Citizens-English Language Learner Advocate of the Year

BB&T-Community Supporter Award

Judge Sue Carol Browning-Patriot Award

Keith Cox, Logan County Council for Adult Education president, presented a certificate of appreciation to Council Members Debbie Browder, Rob Bubaz, Marie Gamble, Richard Holloman, Laurie Holloway, Erdene Hughes, Janice Humble, Carol Kees, Stevy Knight, Jo Orange, Evelyn Richardson and Lora Lee Robey.
