The Logan County Friends of the Library recently received the 5013C designation by the IRS.  This designation recognizes the group as a charitable organization, and with the designation they will be able to apply for educational grants from various foundations.

This designation follows a two-year process which began under Past-President Robyn Crider and completed with current President Suzie Doer and Treasurer Judy Wilcutt.  The Friends were assisted locally by Attorney J. Gran Clark and Becky Spencer of Scarbrough and Barton, CPA's.

The Kentucky Friends of the Library recognized the group for their efforts in securing the 5013C classification with a grant.

On Thursday, June 12. President Mary Lynn Collins of the Kentucky Friends of the Library met with the local Friends board and Logan County Library Director King Simpson at a luncheon meeting held at the Russellville Country Club.  At that time, she presented the group with a check for $400.

The Logan County Friends of the Library has more than doubled its membership since the new library opened.  It supports the library through volunteers for special events and funding for programming, especially children's programs.  The group will be sponsoring a series of local authors beginning in the fall.
