On Wednesday of this past week, Poppy, Kristy Hancock and Flora Templeton-Stuart visited Russellville Jr/Sr High School to present the school with the Leadership Award. During this time, students led a recognition assembly which celebrated recent academic and athletic successes obtained by our students. Specifically, students with exemplary grades, attendance and behavior were recognized with the Golden Panther and Principal’s List awards. We also recognized the November Students of the Month, who are chosen by grade level teams of teachers.
Those students for November are as follows:
6th Grade—TiMya Merrell
7th Grade—Dakota Hamilton
8th Grade—Mason Battcher
9th Grade—Ashlee Gilbert
10th Grade—Bryan Ison
11th Grade—Trey Matthews
12th Grade—Alex Cain
These students join a list of outstanding and exemplary students who have already been chosen as RJSHS Students of the Month. Congratulations to them all!
We also recognized Seniors Tacorian Darden and Desmon Quarles for their recent accolades during the RHS Football Season. Coco has been chosen as the 4th Region Football player of the year and the State Class A Football player of the year. Coco’s dedication and work ethic are evident not only on the football field but also through his classes at RJSHS. We are very proud of his accomplishments. Desmon was recently chosen as the Total Fitness Athlete of the Week for his performance during the first round of playoffs. He joins RJSHS Sophomore Johnny Drumgole on receiving this weekly honor.
The RHS Marching Band was also highlighted for their outstanding season and performances this fall. They finished 7th in the state and received a Distinguished rating at the state competition. Senior Field Commander Jada Morris was also highlighted during Poppy’s visit to our school.
Finally, a huge thanks to the Renaissance Student Coordinator, Ms. Heather Rickman, and her students for organizing and executing this important event for our school.
