At the September Board meeting of the Russellville Independent Schools, three students were recognized for their outstanding achievements at the National Senior Beta Convention held in July at the Opryland Convention Center.

Tony Pacheco-Ramirez placed second overall in the 9th and 10th grade Spanish Division. Tony was awarded $100 and a trophy for his success.

Austin Coursey and Phillip Wilkerson placed fourth overall in Convention Invention, a newly added competition, that test students' ability to creatively engineer solutions to "real world' problems using Legos and robotics.  The goal was to create a device that would make a dirty, dangerous job safer. Austin and Phillip were also given the opportunity to present their solution to the entire convention body.

Austin Coursey, Bryan Ison, Hunter Moneypenny, Will Mullen and Phillip Wilkerson also participated in the "Meeting of the Minds”, a team building, problem-solving competition.

Congratulations to these exceptional students on their hard work and success at the National Beta Convention.

The Russellville High School Senior Beta Club is sponsored by Tanya Mullen. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Mullen and supportive parents helping our students participate in this event.
