We had a very busy week at RJSHS along with many activities that occurred over the weekend!

Members from both of academic teams are currently in Louisville competing in the State Governor’s Cup event! We wish them the best of luck and look forward to hearing results of their successes! Thanks to both our coaches, Mrs. Jennifer Rogers and Ms. Tina Shoemake, along with Mrs. Donna Wilkerson, for their continued work with and support of these programs!

Softball

Spring sports are well underway with most of our spring teams beginning their seasons officially this past week. The RHS Lady Panther Softball team began its season on Thursday with a victory over the Bowling Green Lady Purples. The Lady Panthers fell short on Friday evening to Barren County Lady Trojans. Yesterday, the softball team traveled to Todd County for a full, very cold day of tournament games. The Lady Panthers easily won their first game over UHA and went on to play Ballard Memorial and Edmonson County, both of which ended in tie-breakers using the international tie-breaker rules of play, resulting in the team coming up short in the end. It was, however, a great day of competitive softball for the Lady Panthers. Congratulations to juniors Cierra Collins and Tiffany Gray, who were selected as the team MVPs for the tournament. The Lady Panthers will host Glasgow on Tuesday for their home season opener!

ACT Promotion for Juniors

Members of the RJSHS Junior Class were treated to their “March Madness” ACT incentive celebration this past week. During this time, students were provided with invitations to the event based on the number of hours earned during our promotion of the ACT prep plan. Students earned hours toward this event through good faith efforts, goal-setting, participating in extra study sessions provided and other ways. Grilled burgers, hot dogs and other items were provided to the students, along with a donation of 100 slushies from Sonic and numerous gift cards from community businesses that were given away hourly during the party.

Thanks to Mr. Brandon Blake, Jessie Baker and Rex Booth for their efforts to ensure that the incentive celebration was a big hit for our students!
