The FFA prides itself on developing today’s agriculture students into the leaders of tomorrow. There is no better testament to this mission than the Logan County FFA chapter and one of its former members, Wesley Estes. Wesley has been a part of FFA since his birth, it seems. Since his father, Bryan Estes, is the Logan County FFA advisor, he was practically raised in the FFA.

Throughout his high school career, Wesley served as the 2013-2014 Logan County FFA secretary, 2014-2015 Logan County FFA president, and is now serving as the 2015-2016 Kentucky State FFA President.

The Logan County FFA is so proud of the accomplishments Wesley Estes has achieved. However, most of all, the chapter is proud of the person Wesley is. His character reflects the true values of the FFA, and his life shows an intense passion for agriculture. Last Thursday, Logan County expressed its appreciation to Wesley during the monthly FFA meeting.

The 2015-2016 senior officer team opened the meeting with Morgan Hunt presiding as president. Ann-Meguiar Bouldin shared a scripture passage from James chapter 1 for the invocation. President Morgan Hunt then announced the 2016-2017 chapter officers. Morgan also noted that Andrew Milam will serve as the 2016-2017 Barren River Regional Treasurer. She then informed every one of regional proficiency winners.

Those winners will send their application to the state level to compete. Those to advance include:

Shelby Blythe: Agriculture Processing

Kameron Higgins: Agriculture Sales Placement

Maleea Reno: Ag Science Research Animal

Adam Wright: Diversified Crop Production Entrepreneurship

Shelby Blythe: Food Science and Technology

Andrew Milam: Forage Production

Adam Wright: Grain Production Entrepreneurship

Luke Davenport: Grain Production Placement

Zach Brinkley: Outdoor Recreation

Jessie Collins: Small Animal Production and Care

Paige Brown: Specialty Crop Production

Zach Brinkley: Wildlife Management

Jessalyn Robey: Tobacco Essay

After these announcements, Advisor Jay Campbell introduced Wesley Estes by sharing about his time in the Logan County FFA chapter. He also told about some of the many accomplishments Wesley has achieved throughout his FFA career and elaborated on how Wesley is continuing to serve the FFA through his state office. With this introduction, Mr. Campbell then turned the mic over to Wesley.

Wesley spoke to the chapter and its members about the importance of where a person comes from. He attributed his success to his ag advisors, officer team, community leaders, and fellow FFA members. He said that without the help, motivation, and encouragement from these people, he would not have the opportunities he is so blessed with. He encouraged members to take time and thank those around them and to never forget where they come from.

The Logan County FFA Chapter was so honored to have Wesley come and speak. At the conclusion of the meeting, an honorary PowerPoint was shown. It included pictures captured all throughout Wesley’s FFA career, from his first office all the way to his state presidency. The PowerPoint concluded with video clips of each officer saying thank you for what Wesley has done to pour into their lives.

The Logan County FFA is very honored to have such exceptional members like Wesley Estes. The chapter knows that these people will become the agricultural leaders of tomorrow and is very proud to have a part in developing them.
