Dr. Moats to lead Russellville academics

I am happy to announce that Dr. Steven Moats has been named as Russellville Independent’s Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Moats has completed one year as interim in this position and has accepted the position on a permanent basis.

Dr. Moats holds multiple degrees with majors in elementary education, school administration and educational leadership. He has worked in public schools and Edvantia (formerly Appalachia Educational Laboratory), a nonprofit professional services firm in education.  He served as a research and development specialist, project manager, senior program director and director of the Appalachian Regional Comprehensive Center. 

In 2013, Dr. Moats assumed the position of Program Manager at the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative after the organization was awarded a $41 million Race to the Top – District grant. 

He earned his doctorate in 2007 and has taught and advised doctoral candidates at Trevecca Nazarene University. 

Dr. Moat’s extensive experience from the local level to regional levels to is a great benefit to the Russellville School District. We are very fortunate to have someone with his background, knowledge and experience to work with our school district. We have a very bright future!
