LCHS Principal's report for March 24

Spring break has arrived, and I believe everyone is ready to slow down for a few days. The last six weeks of school will be busy, so we hope that everyone has the opportunity to rest and relax for the next two weeks. Please be safe.

Recent Blood Drive (from FRYSC Coordinator Ms. Jama Richardson)

Successful Blood Drive!!  Our students will help 105 lives through their giving!!  The Red Cross bragged on how polite they were. Appreciate all your support. Thanks again.

BETA news (from Mrs. Julie Cox)

At Beta Club’s Spring District Competition in Bowling Green, John Mark Page was elected the Third District Beta Club President. Additionally, Tanner Morrow won second in history; Kaitlyn Foster won first in speech, and Jaclyn Batchelor and Lydia Manley won first in group talent.

 Milestone

Congratulations to LCHS baseball head coach Ethan Meguiar on his 400th career win this past week. 

Graduation date

Graduation for the Class of 2017 will be Sunday, May 21 at 4 p.m. at WKU’s Diddle Arena.

Scheduling for 2017-18 

Guidance counselors are going to meet with each student and his/her parents individually to discuss important items, develop a personalized schedule, and answer any questions. Scheduling for the 2017-2018 school year will take place during the following weeks in April/May:

Week of April 17th—Rising seniors (Class of 2018) will register

Week of April 24th—Rising juniors (Class of 2019) will register

Week of May 1st – Rising sophomores (Class of 2020) will register

Students will receive registration materials during the week of April 10th. They will need to bring these materials completed to their appointments.

Scheduling appointments may be made now. To make an appointment parents need to call Misty Latham at 270-726-8454 or email her at misty.latham@logan.kyschools.us  in order to schedule an appointment with the guidance counselors to make their child’s schedule.  Both the parent and the child need to be present at this meeting.  If parents have more than one child attending LCHS next year in grades 10-12, please let Mrs. Latham know when you are scheduling your appointment.

Friday, April 14 at 9:15 a.m. – UK men’s chorus for all students (approximately 45 minutes)

Mentors/Tutors

Mrs. Amber McKinney, Mrs. Julie Cox, and Mrs. Dedra Adler have put together a list of senior BETA students who are available to mentor/tutor in various subjects. If you know of students and/or parents who could benefit from this assistance, please contact Mrs. McKinney at 270.726.8454.
