During the next several weeks we will be featuring some frequently asked questions about the new Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program so that you can help spread the word to prospective students about this wonderful opportunity.

What is the Work Ready Scholarship Program?

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program is for people who want to get trained quickly for high wage, high demand careers.

This scholarship opens up opportunity for people who want to "get in, get out and get to work."

Work Ready works for Kentuckians who:

*Are looking for a career in Healthcare, manufacturing, construction, logistics, business or IT.

*Want to take up to 32 credit hours tuition free.

*Are looking for a quick way to get a better job and make more money in as little as one class.

*Have not yet earned a college degree of any type but have a high school diploma or GED.

Why was the scholarship created?

Kentucky employers have many jobs that go unfilled because they cannot find qualified workers. In fact, Kentucky's workforce participation rate is 47th in the country (57.6% percent vs. the US average of 62.7 percent) and Kentucky businesses are clamoring for educated workers to fill jobs. Annually, there are 80,000 open jobs  in the state and there are more than 165,000 unemployed adults. This program is designed to connect the needs of employers with the needs of our citizens.
