Panther Nation,

Exciting week this week for Western KY as the nation turns its eyes on us for the Eclipse on Monday. This Friday bring our first home football games as well! Star testing completed this past week and students are settling into a groove as are all the new faces!

NO SCHOOL – August 21

Enjoy the Eclipse!

We will make the day up on March 28.

ALL EVENTS and SCHOOL BASED activities are CANCELED for Monday. Their makeup dates will be released as they become available.

Great Starts

The HS Volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start after defeating Barren and Metcalfe counties.

MS Softball is 5-1 and has already recorded a no-hitter and has dominated the competition. Follow them on Twitter @RVKSoftball

The 8th Grade Football Team got off to a 1-0 start by handling Logan County 22-0

The HS Golf team shot its best total team score in THREE years on Thursday against Allen County.

The 5th Grade Band, led by RJSHS Assistant Band Director Trevor Cardwell, has 42 members!

Individual Accomplishments of Note

Russellville HS alum Tacorian “Coco” Darden made national news when he was awarded a full football Scholarship by WKU this past week. The offer, made during practice and by surprise, even caught the attention of the NCAA Twitter page, who tweeted the event out to their 1.9 MILLION followers.

Russellville Middle School Softball Coach Ryan Davenport was officially name the Head High School Softball Coach this past week. Coach Davenport has been instrumental in the development and building up of the rising Panther program.

Jr. Linebacker Edward Barber was named the MVP of the Scottie Bowl, in which he led a valiant comeback effort against Glasgow that saw the Panthers come back from a 21-0 deficit and nearly win the game.

Student Expectations

1.    Be Kind

2.    Show Respect

3.    Do the right thing.
