Sue Williams Spurlock is a Bowling Green resident who is involved in historic preservation, cultural enhancements and educational advancements in her native North Logan.

Lewisburg’s “Books-To-Go” is now in its third year of serving the citizens of north Logan County with good reading materials. It also has available for checkout movies on DVD and VHS, as well as some CD audio books. Two computers and a copier are also available for public use. Staffed by volunteers and supported only with private donations, this library has the distinct honor of being Logan County’s only independently funded library. It receives no tax dollars from any source.
The unique library is housed in the historic Sutton Building, located on Front Street in Lewisburg. Its hours are Tuesday through Friday from noon until 5 p.m. On Wednesdays, the hours extend from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. A convenient book-drop is available at all hours.
The library has an inventory of over 1,000 books, which have a steady circulation. If you have not already done so, give yourself a treat by paying a visit to Books-To-Go. Here, you will find a most inviting atmosphere, whether you just care to browse through the selections or sit back in a rocking chair, prop your feet up and give your mind a rest from your worries, while enjoying a good read. A visit here never fails to refresh the soul. Of course, you’ll want to check out a few books before you depart the friendly atmosphere offered here.
If you live away and are paying a visit back home, you’ll want to make Books-To- Go a stop while you are here.
This library operates under the auspices of The North Logan Historical Commission, a registered Kentucky non-profit corporation, which owns the building in which the library is housed. All donations to the library are tax deductible and are used only to keep newly released books on the shelves and to pay utilities.
The annual fund drive is now underway, and the staff wishes to extend an invitation to all Logan County citizens-- past and present-- to become a part of this wonderful community service by becoming a member of “Friends of the Library.” By pledging that you will make a gift of $50 one time each year, your name will be added to the engraved listing of members displayed on a wall plaque and your gift will be enjoyed and cherished by many.
Logan County is one of Kentucky’s largest counties, and this library means so much to the North Logan area, by making good literature more convenient to its citizens.
You may send your pledge to Joyce Richardson, % Lewisburg Banking Co., P.O. Box 278, Lewisburg 42256. You may speak to a volunteer during library hours by dialing 270-755-2423.
