Visit historic Elkton this year for a down-home Christmas celebration.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, the city of Elkton and our local businesses invite you to Elkton to help us celebrate "Christmas in Elkton." Many local businesses will have open house, special sales, refreshments, and other activities throughout the day. Some will even stay open later than normal just for the Christmas activities.
So, come to the quiet little town of Elkton and walk around Historic Public Square and visit our unique gift shops, boutiques and local eateries. Also, be sure to stop in the Welcome Center in the Historic Todd County Courthouse to warm up with a free cup of hot cocoa and refreshments.
Visit www.elktonky.com for a list of local businesses participating in this special event.
Following your day of shopping, the Elkton Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m., leaving Todd County Central High School on South Main Street. The parade will then head north towards Public Square, exiting the Square on West Main Street and ending at the Milliken Memorial Community House.
The parade features lighted floats and entries from local businesses, schools and churches. The Grand Marshal of the parade this year is former Elkton Mayor Evelyn Boone.
If you are interested in participating in the parade, contact Welcome Center Director Charlotte Myers at 270-265-7070 or visit elktonky.com to register online or download a registration form.
Immediately following the parade at about 7 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Milliken Memorial Community House located at 208 West Main Street. There will be free digital pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and free refreshments until 9 p.m.
