Prom & 8th Grade Formal

After an extensive look at the schedules for the coming weeks as well as events and activities, it has been decided that Prom will remain on Saturday, April 28. In order to accommodate our returning Softball players who will be playing in the All A State Championship Tournament in Owensboro that day, Prom will be extended to Midnight.

The 8th Grade Formal that was originally scheduled for the 21st of April is being moved to an end of the year dance with a time and date to be announced.

Teachers Rally in Frankfort

While some districts closed to travel to Frankfort to voice their concerns on budget and pension matters, RISD elected to stay open, but Superintendent Bart Flener encouraged and allowed for several RISD teachers and staff to travel to Frankfort on Friday. From RJSHS Cassie Reding, Heather Osborne, Vicky Mathis, Jessica Lowery, and Lauren Fynboe all made the trip up. During their visit, they spent several hours meeting with State Senator Whitney Westerfield and State Representative Jason Petrie.

Students Express their Support

RJSHS Students unified in a show of support for their teachers this past Friday. Students participated in a 15-minute long rally of support for the happenings in Frankfort as they assembled in the grass in front of the school as well as on the tack behind the school. The movement, which was student created, organized, and run, was a wonderful display of student-led activism.
