The Logan County Public Library needs your help for a good cause. Drop Your Drawers @ the Library, a cooperative effort with libraries all across the state seeks to make sure that every child shows up to school and stays in school for the whole school day in clean underwear.

We are asking for donations of new packages of underwear and socks for boys and girls, sizes 4-16. Our donation drive will end on Dec. 23.  Donations will help replenish the city and county elementary schools' supplies of emergency underpants and provide direct assistance to each school's Family Resource Centers.

Underwear is a basic need and one that is easily forgotten. Between all six elementary schools in Logan County, 1,000 pairs a month are handed out to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home. Because parents sometimes cannot afford or they are unable to bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, children will miss valuable learning time in the classroom.

The Library's goal is to collect 2,000 pairs. Underwear will be distributed evenly to all six elementary schools in Logan County. The schools are:

Stevenson, Adairville, Auburn, Chandlers, Lewisburg, and Olmstead elementaries.

Underwear and socks may be dropped off at, Logan County Public Library, 225 Armory Drive, Russellville.
