Young people are natural dreamers. They imagine themselves as designers, presidents, and veterinarians because books have implanted the idea that they can be anything.

The Russellville Independent School District acknowledges this fact, which is why we're happy to announce that every student from 6th to 12th grade went home with a bag full of free books.

The teachers at Russellville Junior/Senior High School are in awe of the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) grant. For the past school year, the IAL grant has promoted literature across the entire district. With the recent endeavor, some are calling the grant the book fairy.  Due to the grant, each student had the opportunity to choose up to 10 books from a wide variety of genres. 

Now with high quality home libraries, students can challenge themselves by taking on independent reading. The culture of reading is growing tremendously and will only continue to expand.

It’s not every day that you see young people that have an open book in their hand rather than a cell phone! At RJSHS, there are people working to make the next generation avid readers and intelligent thinkers.

RHS Teacher Bethanie Hargett/Slack said, “Every student at RHS in grades 9-12 had the opportunity to choose 10 free books to start building a personal library at home. Unbelieva-Book-able!”
