The week of June 10-14, Logan County FFA took 22 members on our annual trip to the Kentucky FFA State Convention. The Convention was held at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Over 2600 total FFA members attend, and several hundred compete in speeches, agri-science fair projects, and more.

This year, our chapter had eight individuals who placed 1st or 2nd at region eligible to compete in speech contests at the state level. Hayley Hallman competed in the Turf and Lawn impromptu, Briley Robinson in Goat and Sheep impromptu, Caroline Davenport in Floral impromptu, Gracie Wharton in Nursery impromptu, and Abby Canlerin Dairy impromptu.

Three members who competed also placed in their speeches at state; Rachel Taylor placed 4th in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest, Madeline Reno placed 3rd in the Greenhouse Impromptu, and Ashlyn Tracy placed 2nd in the Small Animal Impromptu. We are so proud of our members for their outstanding performance this year!

Along with other competitions, select members have the opportunity to compete for State Star in Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, and Placement. This year, Zach Milam was awarded Regional Star in Placement and was able to compete for the state title. Zach did awesomely and placed in the top 5 in the state!

Our AG Sales team also competed at state. Members consisted of Hayley Hallman, Caroline Davenport, Briley Robinson, and Ashlyn Tracy, who filled in for Micah Page.

One of the highest awards members can receive at the state level is their state degree. This year, we had two members to receive theirs, Hannah Price and Rachel Taylor.

Congratulations to everyone who competed and thanks to everyone who attended! We are looking forward to an even more successful year next year!
