At Russellville, we’ve had another productive and active week of school. We continue to deal with the ever-increasing rise of COVID numbers in our state and county. Logan County remains in the Red with an incident rate of 36.9 as of Friday. Last week we had incident rates as high as 44.8.

We do have several staff out this week, which is beginning to create sub issues, but so far schools have managed to cover classes. We have three staff members who have tested Positive (two at Stevenson Elementary School and one at RHS). Seven staff members have been quarantined for precautionary measures for a total of 10.

Mrs. Kim McDaniel has done an outstanding job working with the Logan County Health Department in quickly identifying cases early in the day and getting them to isolated areas. Two students have been identified as Positive (one each at RMS and RHS). We now have five total staff/students Positive and 33 staff/students who are quarantined due to contact tracing as precautionary measures.

Positive cases are coming from outside our school setting and not from in school contacts. This reinforces that our efforts to monitor and clean our facilities as being effective in making our school environment a safe place to be during this pandemic.

We continue to clean our buildings daily as well as electrostatic cleaning buildings and buses each evening. We are asking parents to please keep your children at home if they are not feeling well. Please practice social distancing, wear masks, wash hands and be mindful to be safe at all times.

At this time, we will continue with our face to face instruction at Russellville Primary Academy and Stevenson Elementary. Russellville Middle/High School will remain on the A/B schedule.

As stated before, coming to school for many children will be the best part of their day. They are in a clean and safe environment, two good meals, and getting to be with classmates and receive good instruction!

Have a great weekend and pray for the safety of our children and staff!
