The Adairville-South Logan Chamber of Commerce will host an open air Christmas Market & More, to kick off celebrations of the Christmas holiday Saturday, Dec. 4 from 2-8 p.m. Events will start in the late afternoon, for those who don’t wish to be out after dark, but will best be enjoyed at night, when the decorative lights of the downtown business district are lit.
In the tradition of European and larger U.S. city Christmas markets, the Adairville market will be located outdoors around the town square, which itself will be festively decorated for Christmas. Vendors will be offering holiday and gift merchandise, arts and crafts, and handmade items. Some will be conducting fund raisers for school, church, and community organizations. An assortment of foods, including traditional Christmas cuisine, will be offered. Other activities and entertainment will take place throughout the town square that is sure to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
Planned events include free entertainment, pictures with Santa, and trolley and wagon rides around the city to view decorated homes and businesses. Entertainment will include musicians and singers performing Christmas favorites, local school bands, Christmas story readings, narrations of Christmas history and traditions, and more. The Logan County High School FFA will be selling 6-7 ft., real North Carolina Frasier Fir Christmas trees. Individuals or businesses can purchase trees the day of the Christmas Market but may pre-order trees by calling the LCHS FFA or the Adairville Chamber of Commerce at 270-772-0954.
The evening will culminate with an auction of Christmas trees, wreaths, and gingerbread houses, decorated by the students of Adairville School. The items are being donated to the school by the Adairville-South Logan Chamber of Commerce, with proceeds raised by the auction going to each grade.
A Christmas Market is an opportunity to bring the community together for holiday enjoyment and to do some gift shopping. Our vendor entry fees are intentionally low to encourage any who are interested to participate in the event. We do hope to have many vendors participating, offering a wide selection of items. We do plan to control the quality and quantity of vendor offerings, so anyone interested should make inquires quickly and commit early. We want people who come to the Christmas Market to leave feeling they were able to purchase quality items that could be used for their gift giving and to look forward to next year’s Christmas Market. We want the Christmas Market to become an anticipated annual event.
The Adairville-South Logan Chamber of Commerce Christmas Market is sure to provide the sights, sounds, smells, and fun that make Christmas memories. The Adairville Christmas Market will be followed the next day, Sunday, December 5, by the annual Schochoh Christmas Parade. Make plans to spend a weekend in southern Logan County.
