A graduate of Logan County High School who plans a career in the music business plans to display the talent of Kentucky singers/songwriters with a showcase in her hometown.

Jaclyn Batchelor is majoring in Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville. She is both a singer and songwriter and also is working at the Grand Ol’ Opry. She is the daughter of Keith and Shannon Batchelor of Logan County. At LCHS she was known as a volleyball standout, a beauty queen and a talented musician.

She is organizing a Homegrown Showcase, which will be staged at the Historic Logan County Courthouse on Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 6 p.m.

Auditions for the showcase have been going on for a while and officially end this Monday. To file an audition application, see the Homegrown Showcase page on Facebook.

“Homegrown is a charity showcase with the mission to support today's talent and encourage tomorrow's,” Batchelor tells The LoJo. “We donate 100 percent of our profit. 50 percent will be donated towards the future through funding music/arts education in Kentucky, and the remaining 50 percent will be divided among our artists to aid in their growing careers.

“We really want to support Kentucky artists, and ensure that the next generations have even better opportunities to learn and grow than ever offered before.”

Artists chosen will be contacted by Nov. 14 and will then be announced publicly the following week. Some artists have already been chosen. In fact, Jaclyn will appear on WMTS 88.3 FM Sunday at 5 p.m. and will announce many of the artists who will be on the Russellville lineup in three weeks. Tune in to hear Homegrown artists Jaclyn Batchelor and David Keener play some original songs and talk about Homegrown.
