STAR Benchmark Testing Begins

All students at RJSHS will begin their STAR Benchmark testing this week. Middle Schoolers will test on Thursday and Friday of this week and then the High School will test on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Juniors Set to the ACT this Saturday

41 of 59 RHS Juniors have taken the ACT already. The remaining 18 are slated to take it this Saturday. The early ACT is part of a District and Board of Education backed initiative to allow all students at RHS ample opportunities to get their best score on the ACT as well as to best prepare for the March 12ACT that is given to all juniors across the state of Kentucky.

Students Learn How to be Egg-cellent Parents

The FACS Essentials class just finished up their project of taking care of egg babies. These everyday eggs give students a better understanding of being a parent as well as showing them how tough it is to take care of them properly. While it may not be the real thing, it gives the students a foundation to know what it is like to take care of another being. The class took care of their ¨babies¨ for 3 days. Both teachers and parents had to sign a paper to prove the condition of the students' eggs.  

Since all of the students did ¨eggcellent,¨  they celebrated by throwing a baby shower. They played games such as bingo and had assorted treats. Students brought items such as diapers, baby wipes, pacifiers, and baby bottles to donate to DCBS (Department of Child Based Services) to go to foster homes for the children and babies who truly need them. Altogether they donated around 30 items for the children, sending many desperately needed necessities for the homes. In all, their quest to experience parenthood not only benefited them but also real families in need.

Senior Superlatives Shine

Senior superlatives happen when the senior class nominates other fellow seniors for a specific trait or quality that they exemplify. This week, Mrs. Julianna Link and her yearbook students took pictures of all Senior Superlative winners.

For this year’s election, there were two big categories. Mr and Miss RHS were chosen based on which seniors best represented the entire school. Those students were Brooklyn Ray and Jacob Naylor. Another major category was Mr. and Miss 12^th grade. These two students were voted as the best students to represent the class of 2019 and those students were Taryn Gray and Edward Barber.

Fashion is always a part of high school. Some students go the extra mile, wake up early, plan their outfits, and become trendsetters. Ashley Pitts and Ty Collins were nominated best dressed, so if you ever are going out and need help deciding what to wear, these are your people to go to.

Class clowns were Brooklyn Ray and Kyran Williams, but the two people that got nominated as the "Most Fun" were Taryn Gray and Javier Canales, so if you ever want to have a laugh or have fun, you know who to go to.

Most athletic were Deshala LeBlanc and Elijah Kemp. They always give their teams 110 percent effort. Best personalities were Haley Hardesty and Jacob Naylor. Most talkative were Aisha Dowlen and Hunter McDowell, so if you ever need a little pick-me-up or just want to talk to someone they are the best of many.

Hard workers can be found in all areas of RHS, but there are a few students who go above and beyond. These self-starters are recognized by their peers as people who will be rewarded most for this hard work. The seniors voted, "Most likely to succeed" were Morgan Todd and Shawn Steele.

These students work hard not only in sports but in the classroom, too. What would the world be without art? Many students at RHS have an interest in the arts, but there are a special few who stand out. The class of 2019 has spoken and the students voted "Most Talented" were Katie-Ray Holloman and Alex Wright.

After all the work students do at school, work, and internships it is easy to understand how tired seniors can get. With all of this work and lots of early mornings students sometimes find opportunities to sleep. The seniors have spoken and said Sarianna Allen and Dannon Gilbert were most likely to fall asleep in class. What senior hasn't experienced a "glow-up" over the last few years? The class of 2019 voted and hands down the best glow- up from freshman year were nominated Tonisha Hampton and Ethan Howard.

The final seniors to get recognized may be one of the most important. These students have the most school spirit of the entire class and work hard to motivate all RHS Panthers and get students excited to support our awesome teams. The students who were awarded most spirited were Jaycee Buchner and Carson Kash.

Without a doubt, this year’s senior class at the Russellville High school all of have great personalities and make the school an exciting and interesting place to be.
