The Logan County High School Department of Music returned to the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center to deliver its annual Winter Concert on Dec. 4. This was the fourth straight year the concert was performed at the facility, and as in the past, it proved an excellent means for even the biggest Grinch to get into the Christmas spirit.
The evening’s show began with the Jazz Band playing seven selections including Up on the Housetop, Silent Night, and Funky Ole Saint Nick. With their selections, Jazz Band members were able to show off their improvisational skills as featured soloists throughout their performances.
The high school Chorus followed with seven selections of their own including Carol of Bells, Come and See the Baby, Mary Did You Know? and Deck the Rooftop.
Rounding out the night’s engagement was the Symphonic Band. The band featured six selections, including All I Want for Christmas Is You, A Fresh Aire Christmas, A Mad Russian’s Christmas (a collection of excerpted selections of Peter Tchaikovsky), and a crowd favorite A Christmas Mambo, which had a Latin American vibe.

All facets of the Christmas production were performed under the direction of Director of Bands & Chorus David Dayton, Logan County High School.
