Spring Community Ed class schedule announced

Quilting Class I will be offered! This is a one-time class that will be held onSaturday, Feb. 23. This class will be hands-on for those who cannot sew or have very little experience sewing, yet have the availability of a portable sewing machine. The instructor is Joanne Fransen-Gilliam, and she will be teaching how to make a small baby/toddler quilt!

The class will be held at the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office, 355 S. Summer St., from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost will be $55 per student, and each student is asked to please bring a portable sewing machine, their fabric choice, batting, and any quilting tools they may have (the specific yardage for the material and a list of items needed will be shared before the class begins). There will be a fabric kit available for the top of the quilt and backing for an additional $25. This does not include batting. We must have a minimum of four and a maximum of six to have the class! Please register on or before Friday, Feb. 22.

Quilting Class II will be offered also! This will be two classes that will be held on Saturdays, March 9 & 16. These classes will be hands-on for those who know how to sew, have experience with, and have the availability of a portable sewing machine. The instructor is also Joanne Fransen-Gilliam, and she will teach how to make a quilted wall-hanging called Star Dust Quilt! The class will be held at the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office, 355 S. Summer St., from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The cost will be $55 per student, and each student is asked to please bring a portable sewing machine, their fabric choice, batting, and any quilting tools they may have (the specific yardage for the material and a list of items needed will be shared before the class begins). We must have a minimum of four and a maximum of eight to have the class! Please register on or before Friday, March 8.

Do you desire to learn the basics of conversational Spanish? This six-week class will be Mondays, March 4, through April 15. Classes will be held at Stevenson Elementary School, in Room 24C, from 4-5 p.m. The instructor is Eunice Arevalo, the RIS Bilingual Tutor. The cost will be $60 for six classes. Sessions will include the sounds of Spanish, the alphabet, words you should know, numbers, telling time in Spanish, common phrases, key expressions, and important vocabulary words. Please register on or before Friday, March 1.

Everyone that has taken this class, has simply loved it! Therefore, we are offering another one-time Bread Making class to be held on Saturday, March 9. This class will be hands-on bread-making steps with added humor and science, plus you will leave with dough that will bake into two loaves of bread. The instructor is Martin Elmes, and he will also demonstrate how to make English muffins. The class will be held at the Russellville Independent Schools Central Office, 355 S. Summer St., from 9 a.m.-noon. The cost will be $20 per student, and each student is asked to bring a mixing spoon and a 2 qt. mixing bowl. Please register on or before Thursday, March 7.

We will be offering another Photography Class. Students will need a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera, not just a “point-and-shoot”. This class hopes to offer basic operational instruction during the first part of the class, and then have “lab time” or “hands-on time” to photograph sample scenes and situations. The instructor is Mandy Morris, owner of dollface Photography. The cost will be $60 per student for the entire six classes. The class will begin on Mondays, March 11 through April 22. It will be held at Russellville High School, room 19, from 5-6 p.m. Please register on or before Friday, March 8.

Basic Photo Editing. This new class will cover beginner photo editing techniques such as lighting and color correction, cropping and sizing, as well as blemish/boo-boo removal. The instructor is Mandy Morris, owner of dollface Photography. The cost will be $60 per student for the six classes to be held on Tuesdays, March 12 through April 23 at Russellville High School, room 6, from 5-6 p.m. We must have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 to have this class. Please register on or before Monday, March 11.

Time is valuable for us all, and this ‘how to’ prepare “A Week’s-worth-of-Meals” (5 meals) at each Class may be just what you’re looking for! Instructor Tera Ragland, will be sharing recipe cards each night as you bring your “weeks’ worth” of groceries and assemble the meals together. The entrees will consist of a mix of beef, chicken, and pork for Asian, Mexican, Italian, and American cuisines: freezer meals, slow-cooker meals; insta-pot meals, soups, stews, etc. The class will be held at Russellville High School from 5:30-6:30 p.m, beginning Tuesdays, March 12 through April 23. The cost will be $60 per student for the entire six classes (plus the cost of your groceries). Please register on or before Friday, March 8.

Would you like to learn to play the Guitar or improve your skills? We will be offering another Guitar class Mondays, March 18 through April 29. This 6–session class will offer basic lessons, and each student will need to provide their own guitar. The instructor will be Marty Olson. The class will be held at Stevenson Elementary School from 5:30-6:30pm. The cost will be $100 per student for the entire six classes. Please register on or before Friday, March 15.

We have had an overwhelming response for our Sign Language classes so we will be offering it again this spring. This class will assist you in learning the basics of conversational sign language and having the ability to communicate with the deaf. Sessions will include learning the alphabet, words you should know, numbers, common phrases, key expressions and important vocabulary words. This six-week program will be Tuesdays, April 9 and end May 14. Classes will be held at Russellville High School, in Room 19, 4:30-5:30 p.m. The instructor is Bethani Blume. These six-week classes will cost $60. Please register on or before Monday, April 8.

LCTC Instructor Chris Hoffman will once again offer a Basic AutoCAD Class. AutoCAD is a leading CAD program, with hundreds of industries using it every day. The software can seem very advanced if you don’t know what you’re doing. There are so many tools and commands—not to mention the actual interface. To help you start off your AutoCAD journey you’ll learn about AutoCAD’s precision capabilities, basic terminology, basic geometry, and modification tools. The cost will be $90 for six weeks. All supplies are included. Sessions will be Mondays March 4 through April 15. Classes will be held at LCTC in Room 301, from 6-7 p.m. Please register on or before Friday, March 1.

You’ve probably heard of 3D Printing. It was supposed to be the new “Industrial Revolution.” 3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing. Objects are built in small layers, stacked on top of each other one at a time. It can be quite a slow process, but it does have many benefits. LCTC Instructor, Mr. Chris Hoffman, will talk you through everything you need to know to get started. Come join this Basic 3-D Printing class! The cost will be $120.00 for 6 weeks. All supplies are included. Sessions will begin Tuesdays, March 5, through April 16. Classes will be held at LCTC in Room 301, from 6-7:30 p.m. Please register on or before Monday, March 4.
