The local snow & ice team from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 3 office in Bowling Green has been monitoring weather forecasts for the last couple of days and throughout today. Because of the amount of rain received in the district, the predicted snowfall and the expected rapid dropping of temperatures below freezing, District 3 crews will report to their respectful counties at 8 p.m.

It is hard to predict when or if road temperatures will drop enough for water to freeze on the roadways. However, slick travel is possible overnight into Sunday morning. Motorists should expect bridges and overpasses to freeze first as well as icy spots scattered throughout the area. Depending on road temperatures, slick travel could be a widespread issue. Motorists should check road conditions and weather conditions prior to traveling.

Folks are encouraged to check out the District 3 social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook at KYTCDistrict3. Also checkout real-time traffic and road conditions at GoKY.ky.gov.
