At the annual Logan County FFA Banquet, three FFA members were awarded the highest honors for FFA members—Star Farmer, Star in Placement, and Star in Agribusiness.

The Star Farmer award goes to the individual that showed exceptional qualities working on the farm. Zach Milam was named the chapter Star Farmer for his dedication to his family farm and raising his pigs. Zach went on to be named the Barren River Regional Star Farmer at regional paperwork day in April 2019. His application will go on to compete even higher at the state level in June at state convention.

The Star in Agribusiness was awarded to Rachel Taylor. Rachel worked each day with her dad on their farm. This award is given to those who demonstrate skills in business focusing on agriculture. Rachel used the skills she obtained to serve her chapter as the 2018-2019 Vice President.

The Star in Placement winner was Hannah Price. Hannah worked at the NRCS office in Russellville. She was given this award because she showed excellent leadership under her boss, Wesley Wright. She used the skills she learned at this job to help her chapter’s Envirothon team learn more about conservation.

As well as the star awards, two seniors were also awards Young Farmer Scholarships. These scholarships were based on applications that were reviewed. Zach Milam and Hannah Price each received a 2,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. Zach plans to attend SKYCTC in the fall of 2019 to become an electrician. Hannah is planning on going to WKU in the fall to major inh. The Young Farmer Association gives out scholarships to Logan County Seniors each year.
