The new school year begins in less than a week, and for Superintendent Bart Flener, it’s a “new beginning” for the District.

On Monday, Aug. 5, Russellville Independent Schools will celebrate Opening Day with all staff in anticipation of the first day with our students on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

It’s always an exciting time for teachers and staff members, and it’s an opportunity for the adult team members to look in retrospect over the previous year, then look forward in planning how the 2019-20 school year will become greater.

Breakfast will be served in the Russellville High School cafeteria with numerous partner organizations located outside the cafeteria to share their information.

At 8:30, the Opening Day Celebration Program will commence in the R21C Multipurpose Room. A musical presentation will start off the morning followed by a WOW! Presentation.  New adult team members will give their introductions and become acquainted with all the wonderful people and school traditions we have in the District.

There will be an introduction of a special guest speaker, personifying the Panther Power.  A time of “Circling the City - Looking IN & Looking INWARD” will complete the celebration program.

Hopefully, the new school year will avail an opportunity for our students to evaluate what they will do this year, begin to accomplish big goals, have a good work ethic, and enjoy this time of youth.

Thanks is expressed to every Panther, whether a student, parent, community member, etc. We are excited for this 2019-20, new school year and are ready to Equip Panthers ...For Life!
