RHS Marching Band Takes 5th in Kentucky
On a windy and rainy Saturday in Bowling Green this past weekend the RHS Panther Marching Band made history as they claimed the highest finish in school history and grabbed 5th overall for the state of Kentucky in Class AA. The Marching Panthers, led by Band Director Brian Brown and Assistant Band Director Trevor Cardwell put the finishing touches on a brilliant season in which they made their show, “1,000 Cranes,” the best that has ever marched for the Black and Gold.
No School Tuesday, 11/5
Tuesday 11/5 is Election Day. There is no school that day. There IS school on Monday 11/4 and Wednesday 11/6.
Veteran’s Day, RHS on Monday 11/11
In two weeks, on Monday 11/11, Russellville High School, would like to welcome all veterans to attend a special program in the deGraffenried Auditorium that will feature guest speaker and RHS Class of ‘65, retired Marine Two Star General Jerry Humble.
General Humble’s distinguished career includes serving with the British Commandos, commanding a Special Operations Capable Unit, and serving as Security and Special Operations Advisor to the Department of State. He served as commanding general of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C. and was later commanding general 3rd Marine Division. He served as commander of Marine Forces in Korea and along with numerous campaign, expeditionary and foreign medals, Humble has been decorated with the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two Gold Stars and Combat V, and numerous others.
All veterans are welcome to come and join as we honor their service to our country.

It’s Getting Cold! No Child Should Be Cold!
With the temperatures dropping it’s getting to be the season for warm clothing. No child should be without warm clothes for the Winter and the RHS and RMS Family Resource Center is here to make sure that doesn’t happen. Kentucky Center for Safe Schools at RHS on 11/12
The Kentucky Center for Safe Schools (KCSS) will be in RISD on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The KCSS will be working with RISD to do a safety assessment of all RISD facilities and practices. This is part of the RISD efforts to ensure the safest learning environment for all students. The walkthroughs and interviews being done by the KCSS and RISD personnel will not infringe on classes or the normal daily operations of the schools.

Keep Up with What is Happening in Your Child’s Class
At RHS, all teachers place their Lesson Plans for the week online. This allows you to see exactly what is happening in their classes each day. You may access these plans online by following the following steps:
- Go to the RHS Website
- Click on the Staff Directory Tab
- Click on “Search” to get a full list of all RHS Faculty
- Find your child’s teacher’s name
- On the FAR RIGHT of the screen, click on “VIEW MORE” for that teacher
- Click on the section, “See what we are doing this week in class”
RHS and RMS New Guidance Counselor –
Mrs. Elizabeth Dye
RHS and RMS have hired Mrs. Elizabeth Dye as the new Guidance Counselor. Mrs. Dye will be focusing on developing the Social-Emotional education and support systems at both schools. Get to know Mrs. Dye HERE in her monthly Newsletter!
Midterms
Midterms will be sent home with students on Thursday, 11/14.
If you would like a copy of the Midterm emailed directly to you, please send an email by Wednesday, 11/13 to Mrs. Becky Faenza at becky.faenza@russellville.kyschools.us and we will email an additional Midterm to you by Friday, 11/15.
