With the increase nationwide in the number of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the Logan County School District has also seen an increase in its student population identified with Autism. In order to provide better educational services and interventions to these identified students, Logan County has participated, along with other districts around the region, in a Regional Autism Cadre for over 10 years. 

Logan County has identified a District Autism team composed of special education teachers, speech therapists, and school psychologists, who attend quarterly meetings at the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative in Bowling Green. During these regional meetings, the district team receives trainings on topics such as communication, evidence-based practices, and behavior that will assist them in providing better services to our students with Autism. 

Each school in the Logan County School District has at least one representative on this regional cadre. Further this Autism District Team meets quarterly at the district level to discuss referrals, services, and interventions for our students within each of the schools.

As a way of imparting this information back to the schools where it can best be used with our students, each school also has a team composed of an administrator, special education teacher, speech therapist, and general education teacher. This newly established school team should be able to assist within each building to help better serve the needs of those students with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the school level.

Overall, Logan County has created a tiered approach to serving students with Autism by working to build individual capacity at the teacher, school, district, and regional levels.
