Saying that Adairville will have a live nativity scene downtown Thursday and Friday night is roughly akin to noting that Macy’s has a parade on Thanksgiving. Adairville plans an extravaganza.

Entitled “God’s Greatest Gift—The Christmas Story,” the pageant will not only include animals, a manger, and Mary and Joseph, but there will also be musical numbers and an accomplished narrator.

Playing major roles will be Jenna Robertson, Hayden Blick, Alvy Holloway, Danny Finch, R.B. Hirsch and John Street. Adairville church groups will be involved.

“The Sadie Nauy Foundation is presenting "God's Greatest Gift," says Mayor Donna Blake. “There will be live camel, donkies, sheep and lambs. The story will begin with theannouncement by the angel Gabriel to Mary and will travel through to the birth of Jesus and the entire cast for the living nativity.

“We have a plethora of local people making up the cast. Father David of the Fathers of Mercy in Auburn is the narrator. Mary Beth Dowden will be the pianist.

Blake has been joined by Russellville businesswoman Deborah Hirsh in planning and producing the two-night event.

The presentation will be on the Park Square in downtown Adairville, beginning at 7 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be shared with those in need.
