Two turnovers by the Panthers and a good Crittenden County team on both sides of the ball have led to Russellville trailing 20-3 at Marion in the district championship game at halftime. A Panther fumble and then an interception led to the Rockets' first two scores. Dustin Brown kicked a 27-yard field goal for the lone RHS points of the half. The Panthers' leading rusher on the season, sophomore Jovari Gamble, was injured returning the third kickoff and had to be carried off the field.

Joe Hendricks elected circuit judge for Logan-Todd

Russellville attorney Joe Hendricks Tuesday was elected judge of Kentucky's Seventh Judicial Circuit, serving Logan and Todd counties. He defeated Logan's county attorney, Joe Ross, by 5,033 votes to 4,412. Although judicial races are officially non-partisan, this matchup was obviously Republican Hendricks versus Democrat Ross, as evidenced by their affiliations in 2018 races. Hendricks was part of an overwhelming Republican sweep of Logan County voters Tuesday. Every Republican on the ballot carried Logan County. In fact, Republicans swept every statewide office except governor, in which Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear was declared the winner over incumbent Republican governor Matt Bevin, who tried to overcome his unpopularity by hanging on to the coattails of President Donald Trump, who campaigned for him in Lexington on Election Eve.... Whitney Westerfield, who is in his second term representing Logan and Todd counties in the state senate, was defeated in his race for the Kentucky Supreme Court.

Panthers lead at half, Cougars trail

The Russellville Panthers (2-7) already know they are playing at home next week in their first Class 1A playoff game. They lead Warren Central (0-9) by a touchdown at the half. The Logan County Cougars (8-1), however, trail South Warren (8-1) 27-6 at the half after being behind 20-0 after a quarter. A Cougar win would clinch the number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs for Coach Todd Adler's team, but it appears LCHS will have to do it without star quarterback Tyler Ezell, who injured his leg with about four and a half minutes left in the half. Braxton Baptiste is now quarterbacking the team. Number three quarterback Corbin Rayno is also unavailable, having undergone knee surgery today.
