Logan County High School is partnering with The Logan Economic Alliance for Development (LEAD) to support a work ready skills seal for students.

Along with preparing students for secondary education, LCHS strives to prepare students for the transition to work and life beyond the classroom. A strong work ethic is essential to students’ success in life after high school.

LEAD Executive Director Tom Harned said, “LEAD began work with the Kentucky Education and Workforce cabinet in 2013 to certify Logan County under the Work Ready Community program. Soft-skill and work-ethic training is a requirement of that program. LEAD is very pleased to be a part of this worthwhile program designed to advance educational attainment and career preparation. Both Logan County and Russellville school systems have worked diligently to meet the requirements of the Kentucky Work Ready program. Their efforts are very much appreciated.”

LCHS students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their attainment of factors their future employers will consider valuable via the Logan County Work Ethics Seal. This program has specific criteria to identify these students based on their good attendance, academic performance, work based experience, dedication to their school and community, and extracurricular activities. 

Logan County High School students receiving the Work Ethics Seal should have an advantage when seeking employment as it easily identifies potential employees with a demonstrated work ethic. It can also be listed on college applications to show that students have learned the value of active participation in school, regular attendance, and hard work on their education.

Logan County High School Principal Caycee Spears stated, “This is just one of the measures we are taking to ensure all of our students are better prepared for what they want to do when they leave us.”
