Chandler’s School recognized the accomplishments of 53 eighth graders with a Promotion Parade on Monday, May 18. Staff members cheered from the sidewalk as students stopped at stations and picked up t-shirts, cupcakes, treat bags, diplomas, and awards.
Several students received individual honors. Award winners included Kali Brown (Citizenship), Paige Copen (Band), Jeffery Crisp (Citizenship), Eli Higgins (Social Studies), Shayla Johnson (Science), Natalie Roberts (Algebra I and Language Arts), Keige Shoemake (Mathematics), Abigail Walpole (Perfect Attendance), Seth White (Pam Thomas Academic Award and Perfect Attendance), and McKenzie Wood (Art).
Eli Higgins was recognized as Valedictorian, and Natalie Roberts was named Salutatorian.
The Gold Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who had a 90 percent or above grade point average. Students recognized included Jayden Blick, Kali Brown, Paige Copen, Abby DeArmond, Lyane Grove, Eli Higgins, Riley Hunt, Shayla Johnson, Evan Lowery, Lawton Plumlee, Austin Poat, Mikey Repsher, Natalie Roberts, Kylie Rohling, Hunter Rosser, Keige Shoemake, Abigail Walpole, Matthew Watkins, Seth White, and McKenzie Wood.
The Silver Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who showed outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development. Students recognized included Sadie Blackburn, Jeffery Crisp, Elizabeth Eddins, Colton Fisher, Madison Holland, Dylan Jolicoeur, Layla Kodiak, Scout Madison, Mason Marney, Cole Meacham, Gage Mills, Maddie Ramsey, Allie Sanford, Eli Shaffer, Katelyn Skipworth, John Stratton, and Mya White.
Students who maintained a 94 percent or higher average in all of their seventh and eighth grade classes were recognized as Honor Students. Students recognized included Kali Brown, Eli Higgins, Mikey Repsher, Natalie Roberts, Hunter Rosser, Keige Shoemake, Matthew Watkins, and Seth White.
Jr. Beta Club members were recognized with gold cords. Members included Jayden Blick, Kali Brown, Paige Copen, Abby DeArmond, Lyane Grove, Eli Higgins, Riley Hunt, Shayla Johnson, Mikey Repsher, Natalie Roberts, Kyle Rohling, Hunter Rosser, Keige Shoemake, Abigail Walpole, Matthew Watkins, and McKenzie Wood.
Shaina Johnson, graduating Senior at LCHS, was the 2020 recipient of the Aviles, Bush, Webb Scholarship.
