As outlined in Governor Beshear’s Executive Order, all schools must provide accommodation to high-risk employees who request an alternative or virtual work assignment due to COVID concerns.

For the purposes of this Order, a high-risk employee is an employee who has documentation from a qualified healthcare provider that he or she meets one of the following criteria for high risk developed by the FDA:

a. Has a body mass index (BMI) 35 or above;

b. Has chronic kidney disease;

c. Has diabetes;

d. Has immunosuppressive disease;

e. Is currently receiving immunosuppressive treatment;

f.  Is 65 years of age or older

g. Is 55 years of age or older AND has cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/other chronic respiratory disease.

This requirement to provide accommodations will apply until the eligible employee is at least 7 calendar days past the final dose of the vaccine, unless the CDC or FDA recommend against someone with the employee's health conditions receiving the vaccine.

FDA information can be found at this link:  https://www.fda.gov/media/144638/download

Per the Governor’s Executive Order, employees who decline the vaccination for reasons other than CDC or FDA recommendations will not be eligible for alternative or virtual work assignments while school is in session for in-person classes.

There is no way to know when a second round of vaccines will become available, so it is important that district employees consider the information above when making the decision as to whether to take the vaccine.

If employees of Logan County Schools have any questions about how to sign up for the vaccine, please contact Robbie Davis at Central Office via email at robbie.davis@logankyschools.us or call 270-726-2436.
