What has returned as the major social and civic event of the summer locally—the Logan County Fair—opens a 13-day run with the Farmers’ Market at 7:30 this Saturday morning )June 18) and doesn’t conclude until the end of the Swine Show, which begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. That’s a 300-hour marathon.
Saturday’s Kickoff Day is filled with fun activities that are designed to remind us of county fairs and social gatherings of old.
Under the inclusive title of “4-H Old Time County Fair Events & Vendor Fair,” those attending can compete in contests like ice cream sandwich eating, watermelon seed spitting and pie eating. Inflatables will be available for play along wit an Antique Tractor Show and a Car Show with Clay Bilyeu.
Also on Saturday’s agenda are three events charging admission fees--a concert featuring 3rd Time Around Band at 5 p.m. and Ohio Valley Wrestling at 7.
In between is the Logan County Teen Pageant. The entry deadline for contestants has already passed but an audience is welcome.
The fair resumes on Tuesday with robots and inflatables, carnival rides, music with Clay & Friends, the Little Mr. and Miss Pageant and the Diaper Derby.
