Davonna Page leads KSBA

in helping found COSSBA

Under the leadership of President Davonna Page—a long-time member of the Russellville Board of Education, the Kentucky School Boards Association has become a founding member of COSSBA, the Consortium of State School Boards Association. Kentucky is one of 22 states involved in forming the organization, which is a non-partisan national alliance dedicated to sharing resources to support and strengthen state school boards associations as they serve their members and local school districts.

Babysitting class offered

at Crittenden Drive Church

A free babysitting class will be offered at Crittenden Drive Church of Christ in Russellville by the Barren River District Health Department on Monday, June 27. The time will be 9 a.m. until noon. Young people wishing to take the course should contact their school’s Family Resource Director or the health department’s Kathy Thweatt at 270-725-1406 or register at the website shown in the accompanying graphic.

Juneteenth Jazz on the Lawn

planned at Logan public library

Juneteenth Jazz on the Lawn will be observed at the Logan County Public Library's Armory Drive location in Russellville Friday from 6-8 p.m. "Juneteenth Nuggets" will be presented by local historian Michael Morrow. Food will be available from Sydnor Boys BBQ. Jazz and blues will be played by Trez Hampton. Bringing lawn chairs is encouraged.

Lee Dockins wins U.S.

all-around gold medal

Lee Dockins has once again proved she is the best Special Olympics artistic gymnast in the United States. She won the gold medal in all-around competition Wednesday at the U.S. Games in Orlando. She also earned the gold in the uneven bars and the silver medal in the vault. She will compete in Floor and Beam Thursday. She already has the credentials to be selected for next year's World Games in Berlin, but the team has not yet been announced. She has previously represented Team USA in Special Olympics World Games on three continents.

Logan Farmers’ Market begins season

The Logan County Farmers' Market will begin its 2022 season this Saturday and run until the end of October. Hours are 7:30-noon on Saturday mornings and 3-6 on Tuesday afternoons. It has been held for 17 years in the pavilion at the rear of the UK Ag Complex behind the Logan County Extension Office.

400 Mile Sale runs through

Logan this weekend on 68-80

The 400 Mile Sale which runs the entire length of Kentucky begins today and runs through Sunday. A key part of it can be found in Logan County from South Union to Daysville. Booths, tables, entire yards will be filled with treasures and bargains. Logan County Tourism and the Logan Chamber of Commerce are among the sponsors.
