Rachel Hance, who has served as Logan County Family and Consumer Science Agent for several years, received two awards recently from her state organization, including the prestigious Distinguished Service Award (DSA).

The DSA is the highest award presented. It recognizes members of the Kentucky Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences for leadership, educational program efforts, and professional development.

“Rachel seeks to improve school readiness by educating, encouraging, and engaging families through annual preschool events addressing language and physical development as well as coping and social skills,” a KEAFCS announcement says.

The Auburn area native also shared another award presented at the recent KEAFCS Annual Meeting. The Community Partnership Award recognizes outstanding community partnership efforts in meeting the needs of families through collaboration with groups, agencies, and consumers.

The 2022 1st place award was granted to  Hance of Logan County and Kelly Burgess, formerly of Allen County. The Allen, Logan, Simpson Community Early Childhood Council is a grant-based team that provides events and resources to families with preschool-age children to address specific Kindergarten Readiness standards.
