Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is gearing up to commemorate Black History Month with its 9th Annual African American Read-In. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The Read-In aims to honor the literary contributions of African American authors and promote diverse perspectives within the community.

The event, to be held at SKYCTC's Main Campus located at 1845 Loop Drive in Bowling Green, promises an enriching experience for attendees. Faculty members, including Professor Coni Waggoner-Edwards and Adult Education Specialist Timothy Stockton, alongside Instructor Melissa Courtnage, will lead readings from notable African American authors. Additionally, students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to participate by sharing their favorite passages or poems during the open forum session.

This year's Read-In underscores the significance of literacy and highlights the profound influence of Black artists and writers on modern culture. Attendees can expect to experience thought-provoking readings while enjoying complimentary refreshments provided by the organizers.

For those unable to attend in person, the Read-In will be live-streamed to to the other five SKY campus locations, including the Franklin-Simpson campus, ensuring broader accessibility and participation across the institution's community.
