December 1

Schochoh Christmas Parade

“Songs and Sounds of Christmas in Schochoh” will be the theme of the annual Schochoh Christmas Parade this year. Held on the first Sunday in December since the late James Harve and Margaret Smith began it 35 years ago, the parade goes through the intersection of roads in South Logan known as Schochoh. Trucks, tractors, big machinery, cars, horses, wagons, floats and more are welcome to be driven down the road and wave at the crowd. Dec. 1 is the date, and it starts at 2 p.m. Afterwards there will be a meal and a silent auction at the nearby Schochoh Community Center. Participants are urged to play Christmas music loudly during the parade. No preregistration is required.

Christmas Candlelight Service at Red River

As has been the tradition following the Schochoh Christmas Parade, a Christmas Candlelight Service will be held at the historic Red River Meeting House in the Schochoh area at 3808 Schochoh Road. It will begin at 4 p.m. with Robert Operia the speaker. Hot chocolate and spiced cider with be served.

Glowing Snowman Stars for teens at library

Teenagers (and adults) are invited to make felt ornamental Gl6 p.m.owing Snowman Stars at Logan County Public Library in Russellville from 5-6 p/m/

Cookies with Santa at Auburn Library Storytime

A special visitor will be at the Logan County Public Library in Auburn for Storytime. It will be Mr. Claus at Cookies for Santa, beginning at 10 a.m. and going through 11:30.

Cookies with Santa at Main Library Storytime

A special visitor will be at the Logan County Public Library in Russellville for Storytime. It will be Mr. Claus at Cookies for Santa, beginning at 10 a.m. and going through 11:30.

Russellville Christmas Parade

For the first time in recent memory, a Russellville Christmas Parade will be held in downtown Russellville, beginning at 6 p.m. All entries must be lighted and registered at the Logan County Chamber of Commerce (270-726-2206) by Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Auburn Christmas Tree Lighting

Auburn’s Christmas Tree Lighting will be held at 7 p.m. at 103 East Main Street. Christmas music will be provided by the Jonathon Phelps Family.

Lewisburg Drive-Thru Living Nativity Scene

The Annual Live Nativity in Lewisburg will continue to be a “drive-through” Living Nativity for two nights, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 & 7, from 5-8 p.m. at McKinney Park!  It will begin by turning on Front Street, going around McKinney Park, and exiting back onto Stacker.  There will be a “take out” or sit-in meal available at the Lewisburg Community Fellowship. Spokesperson Penni Nugent says, “The message of Jesus is what we want to be the main focus! “

Hot Cocoa & Cider at Logan Tourism

Anyone is welcome to come by the Logan County Tourism office in the Historic Old Courthouse for Hot Cocoa & Cider from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cookies with Santa at Main Library Storytime

A special visitor will be at the Logan County Public Library in Russellville for Storytime. It will be Mr. Claus at Cookies for Santa, beginning at 10 a.m. and going through 11:30.

Hot Cocoa Crawl for refreshments and shopping

Hot Cocoa Crawl provides benefits for Christmas shoppers and participating businesses/ Shoppers can buy a $10 mug from the Logan County Chamber of Commerce and then use it to get a free drink from participating merchants throughout Logan County.

Christmas Fun at After School Storytime

Christmas Fun will be the theme at the Logan County Public Library in Russellville for After School Storytime. It will begin at 2 p.m., going through 3 p.m.

Auburn Merchants Christmas Open House

Christmas Movies is the theme of the Auburn Christmas Parade, and the best decorated float will receive a $200 prize. The parade begins at 3 p.m. Afterwards children can visit Santa at the Auburn Fire Department and get treats provided by New Friendship Baptist Church as well. Donations of items for Auburn School FRYSC and Auburn Healthcare.

Christmas Karaoke at public library

From the Logan County Public Library: Join us for some Christmas fun! Sing a holiday song or make an ornament. Wear your ugly Christmas sweater, since there will be a prize for the ugliest sweater! Everyone is welcome!

Pictures with Santa at Caldwell House

The Grinch will be a special guest during Pictures with Santa from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Caldwell House, 151 East Sixth Street, Russellville. In addition to the Caldwell House, sponsors are Ruth Ellen’s Flowers and Keltner & Company Salon. A $5 donation to Spayed and Aid of KY is requested.

Lewisburg Drive-Thru Living Nativity Scene

Pinterest Christmas sessions at library

Two sessions of Pinterest Christmas will be held at the Russellville branch of Logan County Public Library. They will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.

Auburn Primary Christmas Chaos

Auburn Elementary School’s first and second graders will present Christmas Chaos! Primary Program in the Auburn Elementary School Gym at 5 p.m.

December 13

Santa and Bucking Reindeer at Auburn

Rodney the Bucking Reindeer and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be at the Auburn Fire Department from 6-8 p.m.  Pictured with Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be free along with train rides along Main Street.  Auburn businesses will provide a free Christmas ornament to the first 200 families that attend.

December 14

Auburn Christmas Wreath Ceremony for veterans

After the goal was met for raising funds to pay for 300 wreaths, the graves of all 300 veterans buried in the Auburn Cemetery will be adorned with a wreath for Christmas. The wreath-placement ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Dec. 14, This is officially part of the Wreaths across America Ceremonies. Each wreath costs $1,700.

Lewisburg Christmas Parade

The Lewisburg Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec.14, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Lineup begins at 3 p.m. at the Nelson Company. For more information, contact Tammy Forgy or Paige Higgins.

Cookies & Crafts at Logan library

Ages 8-12 are invited to come to the Logan County Public Library for Cookies & Crafts at 12 p.m. while 13-18-year-olds should arrive at 3 p.m. Those planning to attend can RSVP at www.loganlibrary.com/RSVP .

deGraffenried Chorale Christmas concert

“AChristmas Kaleidoscope” is the theme of the deGraffenried Chorale’s holiday concert this year. As usual, it will be presented at the United Methodist Temple on Main Street in Russellville, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Mary Beth Dowden is the director and Susan Fox the accompanist. The artwork on the promotional graphic is by Sara Beth Pitts.

Christmas Cactus class at library

“Flora with Laura” Christmas Cactus” is the title of this class at Logan County Public Library. It’s a chance to “learn about Christmas Cactus, their care and how to grow them.” The times is 5-6 p.m.

December 20

Storytime: T’was the Night Before Christmas

The great poem by Clement Moore will be read and enjoyed at Logan County Public Library twice, from 19-11:30 a.m. and from 2-3 p.m.
