At its Aug. 26, 2025 meeting, the Logan County Board of Education voted to place the Construction Nickel Tax on the ballot for the next regular general election, scheduled for November 3, 2026.

The Construction Nickel is a proposed investment designed to strengthen Logan County Schools by ensuring that students have access to safe, modern, and high-quality facilities that support learning, creativity, and growth, according to a press release from the school system.

Statement from Board Chair Tim Hall

“The Logan County Board of Education has listened to the voices shared in the recent petition and appreciates how much our community cares about the future of our schools. We also believe that most of our community understands how important it is to invest in safe, modern, and equitable school buildings for every student in our district.

Our students deserve classrooms and schools that are just as safe and high-quality as those in nearby districts. When our schools are strong, our whole community is stronger. By making this investment, we can give future generations of Logan County students the opportunities they need to succeed.

Because of this, the Board has decided to move forward by placing the construction nickel tax initiative on the November 2026 ballot. This will allow voters to make the final decision about the future of our schools.”

Statement from Superintendent Dr. Dan Costellow

“As Superintendent, I see every day how much our school facilities shape student learning and growth. Our children deserve safe, modern spaces where they can learn, play, create, and prepare for the future. Investing in our schools isn’t just about buildings, it’s about giving kids places where they can dream big, work hard, and build bright futures.

I know that Logan County’s families, taxpayers, and voters want the very best for our students. This initiative is about making sure our schools reflect that care and commitment. By supporting it in next November’s general election, we can provide facilities that match the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the potential of our students.

Our goal between now and next November is to ensure that the community understands both the importance of this revenue and the many opportunities our district already provides for students. We also want to highlight how those opportunities will grow even further with the support of this tax.”
