Recent Logan County High School graduate Dustin Nash has agreed to play baseball for Lindsey Wilson College. A signing ceremony was held Monday, Aug. 6, in
the Commons Area at the school.
He will join classmate Ryan Harper, the Cougar shortstop who signed with L-W earlier in the season.
Nash fashioned a 10-3 record on the mound for the Cougars this spring. “I think that is the most single season wins in school history,” says Coach Ethan
Meguiar. “I know we had some win 9 but I couldn't find anyone with 10.” While working 69 innings, he struck out 74, walked only 22 and had a 2.23 earned
run average.
As a junior, Nash had a 6-3 record in 61 innings with 48 strikeouts, 11 walks and a 2.30 ERA.
He was also a starting outfielder for three years, playing centerfield and leftfield. Hitting primarily at top of the order, he batted .304 in 2011 with 29
each of runs and RBIs. As a senior, his average dipped to .238, but he scored 34 runs and drove in 10.
Nash was All 13th District in both his junior and senior seasons. More importantly, he helped Logan County win the district championship both years. “He
had lots of big district wins over the last two years,” Meguiar notes. “He beat Franklin-Simpson three times, R'ville twice and Todd twice for a perfect
7-0 district record over the last two seasons.”
Meguiar continued, “He always gave his team a chance to win, stayed around the plate and threw a ton of strikes. I can't remember him ever missing a start,
and he's a bulldog on the mound. You had to beat him because he wasn't going to beat himself. His junior year he had nine starts and nine complete games.
“He's one of the most successful pitchers in LCHS history, and he will be missed!”
