Average scores and percentages of students making benchmark scores or above show that the Logan County Schools compare favorably to other schools and districts within Kentucky, according to a press release from the school system. The results of the Explore and Plan tests taken in November and recently returned to schools and districts demonstrate that all Logan County schools continue to make progress and most of the scores and percentages rank very high among the 322 schools with eighth grades, the 231 high schools, and 174 school districts in Kentucky. The Explore test is given to eighth graders and the Plan test is given to tenth graders.
All of the average scores in English, reading, and the composite scores for each of the five middle school grades place Adairville, Auburn, Chandlers, Lewisburg, and Olmstead above the state average scores, the national norm scores and the benchmarks set for those subjects. The average scores in math for Adairville, Auburn, Lewisburg, and Olmstead all were above the state average score and the national norm score. The math score for Auburn was also above the benchmark score. In science, the average scores for all five schools were above the state and national norm scores with none above.
For the percentage of students making a benchmark score or above, Adairville, Auburn, Chandlers, Lewisburg, and Olmstead percentages were all higher than those percentages of the state in English, reading, and science. Adairville, Auburn, Lewisburg, and Olmstead also had percentages of students scoring higher in math than the state average.
Plan test results for Logan County High School and the Logan County School District also show that tenth graders also rank well in comparison to others Kentucky.
All Plan average scores in English, math, reading, science, and the composite scores for Logan County High School and the district were higher than the average state scores. All the subject scores and the composite scores were higher than the national norm scores except in math. Both English and science scores were above the benchmark scores, and the percentage of Logan County students making benchmark scores or higher were also higher than those percentages of the state.
