Fundraisers will be held this month to raise money for what was known for decades as Toys for Tots but is now “Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas” in honor of its founder, the lateBro. Joe Carrico.

Agape Service Foundation, which incorporated Bro. Joe’s good works into its overall mission, will hold a radiothon fundraiser in cooperation with Chris McGinnis of WRUS. It will be held Friday, Nov. 15 from 1-5 p.m. As has been true for many years, one of the numbers will be 52-TOYS (8697).

Melanie Story of Agape says, “If you know of anyone that has been impacted by Bro. Joe’s Christmas ministry and would like to share their story, either by going to WRUS, calling in or by recording, please contact us at 726-7109 of the radio station at 726-2471.

One of the biggest Toys for Tots traditions was the annual country ham breakfast at which hundreds are fed each year, either in person or in mass carryout. According to Sue Wood, it will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5:30-11 a.m. at the Logan County Extension Office on the bypass. A donation of $6 per meal is requested. Preorders can be made before Nov. 20 by calling 270-542-8697 or 726-7109.

Also on Friday, Dec. 6, road blocks will be held to raise money for Bro. Joe’s Family Christmas at various locations.

Helping the families of soldiers, especially at Christmas, was another project dear to Bro. Joe’s heart, and that tradition is being carried on, too. Roadblocks will be held this Friday, Nov. 8 to raise money for the Military Family Christmas. Both the Democratic and Republican women’s organizations have taken leading roles in this project.
