The Logan County FFA Envirothon team received first place in the regional and state Environmental and natural Resources competition this fall. This team of five included Wesley Estes, Adam Wilkins, DJ Lee, Thomas Poole, and Will Hughes.

Logan County team members had to prove their skills in many different ways, such as soil judging, wildlife identification, aquatics, current environmental issues presentation, environmental analysis, and forestry.

Since they were the first place FFA state champion, this group of students was able to compete on a national level in Louisville on October 30-31

. Forty-three teams from across the United States competed in this challenging competition, but Logan County beat 27 of those teams to be the 16th best FFA Envirothon team in the Nation. The Logan County FFA team not only received this high placement but also a silver rating, which is based on the number of points earned over the course of this competition.

This team endured the pouring rain, cold wind, and pressure that comes with being in a national completion, so congratulations to the Logan County FFA Chapter for this great accomplishment.

Thomas Poole says this about his experience on the team: "It was a great honor for us to represent the entire state of Kentucky and the 16,000 FFA members that it contains. We were blessed with the opportunity to compete on the national level against the elite from every state. We are very thankful for our teachers and coaches that worked with us and presented us with the knowledge and skills that got us to where we are today."
