Russellville students just completed a busy and productive week. The following are some of their successes in extracurricular activities:

FCCLA News:
On Friday, Jan. 31, nine students competed at the Regional FCCLA Star Events competition at Hillview Heights in Bowling Green. Each group worked very hard and represented both our school and FCCLA chapter very, very well. The following students placed 1st at Region and will advanced to the State FCCLA Leadership Conference to compete on March 19-21:

Addie Hendley, Mateah Black and Jalonda Wells-Illustrated Talk (1st Place)

Dilishia Thomas, Chelsea Clinard and Denise Stovall-Life Event Planning (1st Place)

Also competing at Regionals were Kallie White, Montana Armstrong and Olivia Cudd who placed 4th overall in Focus on Children.

Ashley McGinnis says, “I'm very proud of all of these students for their hard work and commitment, especially considering this is a first competitive year for our FCCLA Chapter. Having two sets of students advance to State our first year is a wonderful accomplishment and has really opened the gates up for us for next year. They are all great students and I'm very proud to be their adviser!”

RHS Academic Team:
The RHS Academic Team competed this past Saturday at the regional Governor's Cup competition in Madisonville. The quick recall and future problem solving teams came in 3

All of the above students qualified to participate at the state level. This is a record number of qualifiers for RHS to send to the state competition! A huge thanks to coaches Nick Skaggs, Lauren Fynboe and Erica Cassaday as well as these students for their hard work and dedication!!

RHS Archery:
The RHS team competed this past Saturday at the regional shoot at Logan Co. High School. The results are:

Both of these will be advancing to the state archery tournament in March.
The overall team placed 5
th in the region (only missing 3rd place by 16 points and 4th place by 7 points).

I will know if the rest of the team will also be shooting at the state archery tournament on Feb. 28 because of the system the state is using to register teams.

Top RHS shooters:

Chelsea Clinard – 273
David Barber – 266
Dalton Clark – 265
Monsera Morales – 254

Congratulations to Coach Jennifer Clark and these students for representing the school so well during this regional event. We look forward to the state competition!

RHS Swim Team:
The RHS Swim team competed Friday in Owensboro at the regional swim meet. The boys 200m relay team qualified in the top 16 to advance on to competition on Saturday. Team members include Eduardo Rodriguez, Cole Celsor, Dillon Porter and Benjamin Slack. Sophomore Kate Bouldin also qualified in the top 16 of Friday to advance to Saturday's events. Kate represented our school in the 100 Fly on Saturday.

Congratulations to these students and their coach, Toni Hall! We are so proud of how much this young team has grown and matured this season and look forward to many more!

RMS Jr. Beta:
The Jr. Beta club members will be traveling this week to the state convention at the Galt House in Louisville. Sponsor Vicky Mathis, parents and students have worked diligently for the last several weeks for these students to be prepared. Good luck and safe travels to this hard working group of middle school students.

Ashlee Gilbert, an 8th grade student at RJSHS, will be seeking the office of the President for the Jr. Beta organization. Ashlee is also an RHS Ambassador and would do a great job in this role. We wish her the best of luck as she prepares for this election!
