This is a big week for Crittenden Drive Church of Christ. The congregation’s third annual Summer Series of speakers begins Wednesday. Then new minister Andy Walker begins his work with the church this Sunday.

Although he has never lived this far east in Western Kentucky before, Andy Walker feels like he has come home again. Andy is a Kentuckian again. He and his wife Stephanie grew up as Kentuckians—Andy in Lyon County and Stephanie in Marshall County in western Kentucky. Although he earned his bachelors and masters degrees at Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee and although he has been preaching and teaching for the Woodbury Church of Christ in the Volunteer State the past four years, his other church work has been with congregations in Marion and Benton, Ky. Before going into the ministry, he was in the in the insurance business in Paducah.

Andy Walker grew up on a farm in Eddyville. He played soccer in high school and enjoyed working. His undergraduate degrees are in Bible and Marketing and his masters is in New Testament. He is currently working on his PhD in Old Testament from Amridge University. He married Stephanie in 2003, and they have three children: Addie, Grady, and Claire. When he had free time (before children), he enjoyed playing basketball, soccer, and guitar.

Sunday worship services at Crittenden Drive begin at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Bible study classes begin Sundays at 10:45 and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

The theme for the eight-week series on Wednesdays is “Restoring My Soul.” The first session is tonight, Aug. 6. The speaker will be Matt Carver of Auburn, who preaches for the Hortons Chapel Church of Christ in Muhlenberg County.
